F1 | McLaren welcomes new sponsors and dives into the world of artificial intelligence

With a second consecutive Formula 1 Constructors’ title within reach, McLaren continues to expand its commercial portfolio and has now entered the rapidly growing world of artificial intelligence. The team has announced a new partnership with Groq, a US-based company founded by former Google engineers and specialized in hardware and infrastructure designed for high-speed AI inference. According to the official announcement, this deal represents a major opportunity for McLaren to enhance its data analysis and decision-making processes both on and off the track.

The timing could not be better for the Woking squad. As the Formula 1 calendar moves towards the Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren is on the verge of securing another Constructors’ Championship thanks to the consistently strong performances of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Both drivers remain locked in a battle with Max Verstappen for the Drivers’ crown, but the team’s overall dominance has made them the benchmark for the 2025 season. The arrival of new sponsors underlines the strength of McLaren’s project and the commercial appeal that Formula 1 continues to enjoy worldwide.

McLaren and Groq: a partnership focused on AI innovation

Nick Martin, Co-CCO of McLaren, emphasized that Formula 1 is fundamentally about performance under extreme pressure. He highlighted that working with Groq would allow McLaren to access real-time AI inference speeds critical to decision-making during race weekends. This, he explained, is essential to help the team stay ahead of its rivals on the grid.

Chelsey Susin Kantor, Chief Marketing Officer of Groq, added that McLaren and Groq are aligned in their philosophy, built on speed, precision, and efficiency – the same ingredients required to succeed in Formula 1. She stressed that Groq is proud to provide McLaren with high-performance and cost-efficient computing power that not only drives the car on the track but also supports wider operations across the organization.

AI innovation meets Formula 1 competition

The new deal has been described as the latest example of the innovation that McLaren needs to maintain its position at the sharp end of the Formula 1 grid. Groq’s logo will appear on the McLaren car starting from the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay, a race that could be decisive in the Constructors’ title battle. With another championship match point available, the papaya team is under pressure to deliver, while keeping a close eye on Red Bull and Verstappen, who remain determined to close the gap in the standings.

Beyond the marketing and branding opportunities, the partnership highlights how Formula 1 teams are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence and advanced computing power to find performance gains. For McLaren, already enjoying its best period in over a decade, the collaboration with Groq represents both a technological step forward and a commercial statement of intent. As the season approaches its climax, the team is not only fighting for titles but also investing in innovations that could shape its long-term dominance in the sport.
