After two consecutive Formula 1 weekends without scoring a single point, Haas heads to Silverstone hoping to turn its fortunes around. The British Grand Prix could provide the perfect opportunity for the American team to bounce back, especially at one of the sport’s most historic and demanding circuits.
For Oliver Bearman, however, the weekend carries even greater significance. The 21-year-old Briton is preparing for his home Grand Prix, returning to the track where he narrowly missed out on the points last season with an 11th-place finish. With the Sprint format also on the schedule, Bearman will have two opportunities to fight for a top-ten result, something he has not achieved since the Canadian Grand Prix.
Bearman: “Silverstone is unlike anywhere else”
“I’m incredibly excited to be back home for the British Grand Prix. For me, it really marks the start of summer,” Bearman said. “There isn’t another circuit like Silverstone. Every morning, the drive to the track is lined with thousands of fans, no matter what time it is or what the weather is doing. Motorsport fans in the UK are truly passionate!”
The former Ferrari Driver Academy member also explained why Silverstone remains one of his favourite venues on the Formula 1 calendar.
“It’s an iconic circuit, not only because of the way the car flows through corners like Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel, but also because of the incredible history behind it,” he added. “I was fortunate enough to drive Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 97T last month, which was an experience I’ll never forget. Going from that car to the VF-26 will certainly be a change, but I’m really looking forward to racing here and delivering a strong performance.”
Ocon hopes Haas can return to the points
Esteban Ocon is equally motivated heading into the British Grand Prix, with the Frenchman eager to end Haas’ recent run without points.
His most recent top-ten finish came in Monaco, where he crossed the line in ninth place, which remains his best result of the 2026 Formula 1 season. By comparison, Bearman’s strongest finish so far came in China, where he secured an impressive fifth place.
“It’s always fantastic to come to the home of Formula 1 for the British Grand Prix,” Ocon said. “For many members of the team, it’s their home race, and of course it’s Ollie’s home race too, so there’s a really special atmosphere throughout the garage.”
“The fans create an atmosphere that you simply don’t find anywhere else. They’re so eager to be here, they’re always waiting for us and supporting us throughout the weekend. It’s always a pleasure to race at Silverstone and I can’t wait to get out on track because it’s such an incredible circuit. There are always opportunities there, and hopefully some of them will come our way because, with the weather at Silverstone, you never really know what’s going to happen.”
