Honda has released the first video showcasing the engine sound that fans will hear in Formula 1 starting from 2026. The moment has finally arrived. Just days after the end of the season that crowned Lando Norris as world champion, the first preview of the 2026 F1 engine sound has emerged.
Honda sets the stage for 2026
It wasn’t Ferrari that published the video, but Honda. The timing is significant because the technical regulations for next year introduce major changes to the power units, including a greater emphasis on the electric component and the removal of the MGU-H. These updates will not only affect performance but also fundamentally alter the sound produced by the hybrid V6 turbo engines.
Listening to the video released by the Japanese manufacturer, you can immediately notice differences compared to the engine noise heard just days ago. Of course, this represents an initial ignition of engines that the teams will continue to develop extensively in the coming months.
Given the many innovations introduced by the new technical cycle, it will take time before teams have cars performing at their maximum potential. Still, the fact that Honda has chosen to release a video like this early is a positive sign looking ahead to 2026. After their successes with Red Bull, the Japanese manufacturer aims to remain a leading force in the new era that is rapidly approaching.
