Baku promises surprises: Red Bull aims to repeat success
The Red Bull team is gearing up for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. After Max Verstappen’s victory in Monza, the Austrian outfit will aim to replicate or at least consolidate the strong performance shown over the Italian weekend. In the Red Bull garage, Yuki Tsunoda hopes to build a solid and productive weekend, striving for a strong team result. Ahead of the roar of engines on the streets of Baku, here are the thoughts from the Red Bull duo.
Verstappen charged for the final European round
“Monza was an incredible race for us, and we made a significant step forward towards the objectives we set with the car’s setup. The victory gave everyone a huge boost, and this week I went back to the factory to celebrate with the team, which was fantastic, and I also trained on the simulator to prepare for the next race. Now we return to racing overseas in Baku, which are always a bit more challenging on street circuits,” admitted Max Verstappen.
“The combination of low-speed corners and the long main straight means we need to find a compromise in the setup, including the right level of rear wing. We hope to carry this positive form into this weekend and achieve strong results in qualifying as well,” he added.
Tsunoda seeks redemption
“Monza was a disappointing race, but I took away some positive aspects, like our excellent performance in qualifying and knowing that the pace was there, if we hadn’t suffered damage. We are making progress week by week, Max showed why he is the benchmark with that victory, and we know we are getting closer to him race by race, so it’s reassuring to know that the work we are doing is paying off in some way,” said the Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda.
“At Monza, we couldn’t fully show the true potential of our car in the end, which was frustrating, but it gives me confidence looking ahead to this weekend. In Italy, shorter races went better than the longer ones, so we have some work to do in this regard, and it’s something we are evaluating to ensure we bring the car into the right window. Baku is a fun and challenging circuit that can hold many surprises. You really need to stay focused and attentive to get the most out of it, and that is exactly what I will aim to do this weekend,” he concluded.
