Cadillac is finalizing its driver lineup for its 2026 Formula 1 debut, with Sergio Perez strongly favored to secure one of the two main seats. The second seat is set to go to a rookie, and the competition is a head-to-head battle between young American talents Alex Dunne and Jak Crawford. Both drivers represent the promising new generation that Cadillac is counting on as it enters the world championship, combining youthful potential with experience in a balanced team roster.
Recently, during an interview with motorsport.com, team principal Graeme Lowdon revealed Jak Crawford, a 20-year-old from Charlotte currently racing in Formula 2, as a new candidate for the rookie seat. Despite being part of the Aston Martin Academy, Crawford is unlikely to secure a drive with the Silverstone-based team, making Cadillac a viable and attractive opportunity. “There have been some conversations, we are still talking, but for now, everything is moving slowly. I can only focus on myself and my results,” Crawford explained, highlighting his determination to perform on track while awaiting a decision.
This decision will complete Cadillac’s inaugural F1 driver lineup, pairing the proven experience of Sergio Perez with the fresh talent of a rookie, signaling the team’s ambition to make a strong impression in its first season.
