F1 – Ocon and Bearman: an exceptional relationship at Haas
The French driver has shared positive feedback regarding the relationship he has built with his teammate.
Esteban Ocon has made a very positive statement about his relationship with teammate Oliver Bearman. The French driver stated without hesitation that the young British racer is the teammate he has connected with best throughout his entire Formula 1 career, a significant claim considering the number of different teammates Ocon has worked alongside over the years, including figures such as Sergio Pérez, Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso.
Ocon and Bearman are currently in their second season together as teammates at Haas. After a first year that represented a fresh start for both drivers—with Ocon arriving from a difficult and turbulent period at Alpine, marked by internal tensions and inconsistent results, and Bearman beginning his first full campaign in Formula 1 after making his initial appearances with the American team—the duo has developed an understanding that extends beyond the workplace. The Frenchman emphasized that this positive chemistry has a constructive impact on the atmosphere within the team, encouraging a smoother exchange of information and greater collective motivation.
Ocon’s comments
In comments given to Motorsport Week, Ocon did not hold back. He stated: “Bearman is by far the teammate I get along with best in my entire Formula 1 career.”
The French driver added that working alongside Ollie is “extremely positive” and that there is “total mutual respect” between them, elements that help make every race weekend more productive. Esteban also highlighted the maturity shown by his younger colleague despite the age difference between them, praising his analytical approach to work and his ability to provide constructive feedback on the car.
Haas: a healthy and productive environment
The strong relationship between the two drivers is helping to create a healthy and collaborative atmosphere within the American team. Ocon pointed out that the environment at Haas is noticeably different and more positive than those he experienced at some previous teams, stating: “At Haas, we work in a calm and constructive environment, and a large part of that comes from the understanding I have with Ollie.”
This mutual respect and cooperation have emerged as important factors in the development of the car, allowing the team to maximize its overall performance and tackle the challenges of the highly competitive midfield with greater unity and cohesion.
Esteban Ocon’s remarks come as the championship continues and Haas evaluates its options for future seasons in a context of technical stability and ambitions for further growth.
