Esteban Ocon feels fully settled at Haas
Esteban Ocon finally feels comfortable with his current team: Haas. After some clashes with his former team, Alpine, the French driver sought a new home, and today he is fully settled within the American outfit.
Bearman, nicknamed “the troublemaker”
Contributing to this positive environment is his young teammate, Oliver Bearman. The two get along very well, as Ocon himself states: “There’s a really nice atmosphere. Ollie and I also get along very well. Yesterday we had to go to an event, and we drove together for two and a half hours. So we talked about a lot of things, not just racing.”
Speaking with Autosport, the Frenchman also joked about Oliver Bearman being a “troublemaker,” referring to the Goodwood Festival. On that occasion, the two Haas drivers were supposed to compete: whoever finished the race with the largest slick tire would win, but Bearman found a clever way to bend the rules.
“I wouldn’t have had the courage to do something like that!” the Frenchman admitted.
Contrary to what some might think, their on-track incidents have only strengthened their relationship. For example, during the Silverstone Grand Prix, they came into contact, spun on track, and lost several positions. Despite this, the teammates continued to respect each other: sometimes these things just happen.
Ocon finally admitted that his relationship with Ollie is “probably the best one I’ve ever had with a teammate.” “It’s nice to have this kind of atmosphere within the team and on track. Even with the boss, who can sometimes be quite distant from what’s happening in the garage. We’re all united, which is a positive thing.”
