Esteban Ocon is “happy with the progress we’ve already made with Haas” ahead of 2025 F1 season. Esteban Ocon, in his first year with Haas, aims to integrate well with the team.

Esteban Ocon, 2024 F1

Haas enters the 2025 Formula 1 season with a completely new lineup. With Nico Hulkenberg moving to Hinwil (Sauber) and Kevin Magnussen departing, the American team will rely on the youth of Oliver Bearman and the vast experience of Esteban Ocon.

For at least the first few races, the French driver will be the team’s main reference under the leadership of Ayao Komatsu. A seasoned driver will be essential to effectively guide the initial refinement of the VF-25, as well as its development, which is the most crucial aspect in producing components that will keep the team competitive throughout the year.

At least on paper, the partnership between Haas and Esteban Ocon appears to be a successful one. Both sides actively sought and strongly desired this collaboration. The former Alpine driver has embraced this new adventure as a major challenge, despite no longer having the backing of a manufacturer team.

“It’s a new chapter in my career, and I’ve been welcomed very well by the team. Moreover, the team is on a great upward trajectory. I am truly invested in this project.”

“I’m very involved in the team and the project. Everyone at Haas works hard, beyond normal hours, all together. There’s a lot of motivation and hunger to do things well. I’m grateful to be here and to be working with these people.”

“I’ll be racing for Haas for several years, but the first step is 2025. For me, it’s crucial to integrate well with the team, understand what needs to be done, understand what the team expects from me, and bring my experience to improve things right away, starting from testing and simulator sessions. Things are moving very fast, and I’m already very happy with the progress we’ve made.”

For the first time in his Formula 1 career, Esteban Ocon will be in a leadership role within a team. His teammate, Oliver Bearman, is making his full-time debut in the pinnacle of motorsport. However, the Frenchman believes that the former Ferrari Driver Academy member can be a valuable asset for Haas from the start.

“Ollie is a very promising, fast, and strong driver. I remember his pole in Baku two years ago, which he achieved with a damaged steering wheel. And then last year, when he made his Formula 1 debut, adapting very quickly and even scoring points in both of his appearances. That was remarkable. Together, we’ll try to help Haas take the next step forward.”

Finally, regarding his season goals, Esteban Ocon seems to view 2025 as a preparation year ahead of the regulatory changes coming next year: “My goals for the 2025 season are certainly to integrate well with the team, and we’re already working on that. I want to collaborate effectively with everyone and improve our performance. It’s always important to make progress, regardless of where you are.” – the former Alpine driver concluded.
