No points on debut
Among the disappointments of this first GP of the 2025 season, Haas cannot be overlooked. The American team was one of the revelations of last season, but in Melbourne, the new VF-25 never seemed capable of competing for points. Ocon and Bearman managed to reach the checkered flag, but they finished last and second-to-last. The team led by Ayao Komatsu is one of three—along with Alpine and Racing Bulls—that failed to score any points this weekend. A shocking start that even surprised the drivers themselves.
The disappointment of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman
“It’s quite unexpected to find ourselves where we are this weekend,” admitted Esteban Ocon to F1TV, “but I’m sure we’ll find a way to turn things around in the next round. We completely changed the car, and there are still things we need to understand, but we saw some improvements during the sessions. Today, the rain put the car in a completely different window.”
Ollie Bearman echoed the same sentiment: “Today’s goal was to complete laps and gather data,” said the Briton, who had only completed a few laps over the weekend and even missed qualifying. “I’m fairly happy with my performance. It was a surprise for all of us not to be fighting for points,” emphasized the Ferrari Driver Academy talent, “and obviously, it was an unpleasant surprise. We’ll have to work hard to fix this situation. I hardly ever drove on a dry track, so I can’t provide much feedback—we’ll rely on Esteban’s. We’ll try to bounce back next weekend.” – the Ferrari junior concluded at the end of the Australian Grand Prix in Melborne.
