Ayao Komatsu excited for Melbourne: “Very positive tests, I can’t wait to see what we can do”. Haas resumes from seventh place in the 2024 Constructors’ standings .

Haas sets its sights on Australia
A year ago, Haas began the season after the shake-up that led to the departure of team principal Guenther Steiner. The exit of the South Tyrolean manager seemed like a prelude to another difficult season for the American team, but instead, Nico Hülkenberg proved to be a driver capable of consistently securing crucial points, allowing Haas to finish seventh in the Constructors’ standings—a respectable result that will not be easy to replicate in 2025. However, morale is high within the Haas camp, which enters the 2025 season with a new driver pairing of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman. Below are their statements, along with those of team principal Ayao Komatsu, ahead of this weekend’s race which is set to take place at the 5.278-kilometre Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne.

Ayao Komatsu: “I have fond memories of Melbourne. Finishing sixth on our debut in 2016 remains unforgettable. It’s a very demanding circuit, essentially a street track with low grip and difficult overtaking opportunities. It’s a challenging track for the driver, the car, and the team. The tests have been positive, and we’re eager to see what we can achieve. If we can put everything together, which we must, and get the best out of the car and the drivers, we will be able to fight.” – the Japanese motorsport executive and engineer pointed out.

Esteban Ocon: “It’s great to have Australia back as the first race on the calendar. It was always the season opener when I watched Formula 1, and of course, being my first race as a Haas driver makes it even more special. Albert Park is an incredible track, which has become faster over the years thanks to the new layout and resurfacing. Setting up the car correctly is a big challenge for teams and drivers, given how fast the corners are. I can’t wait to see how the VF-25 performs.”

Oliver Bearman: “It’s definitely been a long off-season, so I’m happy to finally get to Melbourne and start the season. I can’t wait to see what awaits us. The circuit is fantastic, and it will be amazing to share my real Formula 1 debut with my family and loved ones.” – the Ferrari junior concluded.
