Eddie Jordan, former Formula 1 team principal, revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. The 76-year-old shared his condition during the *Formula For Success* podcast, which he co-hosts with former F1 driver David Coulthard.
Jordan began his motorsport career in the 1970s with karting and later founded Eddie Jordan Racing. He achieved success in Formula 3 and Formula 3000, alongside drivers like Johnny Herbert and Jean Alesi.
Eddie Jordan reveals: “I was diagnosed with cancer”
Eddie Jordan moved his team to F1 in 1991, and by the end of the decade, they had secured their first Grand Prix victories. However, he sold the team to the Midland Group in the mid-2000s when the cost of competing in F1 rose. Since then, he has worked as a television pundit.
Now, Jordan finds himself forced to battle cancer. “In March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, which then spread to my spine and pelvis, so it’s been quite aggressive,” Jordan said.
He also compared his situation to that of Sir Chris Hoy, the former Olympic cyclist and gold medalist, who revealed in October that he is suffering from terminal cancer. “We’ve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who is a true megastar, and now he’s talking about illnesses like the one I have, but he’s a much younger man,” Jordan added.
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Jordan wanted to convey a positive message and urged listeners not to delay medical check-ups. “Don’t waste time, never postpone,” he said. “Because in life, you have opportunities, and there are so many medical resources available. There are many things you can do to extend your time. Take care of your bodies, guys.”
