Max Verstappen’s performance in the Brazilian GP left Eddie Jordan in awe. The Dutchman pulled off something extraordinary in the Brazilian Grand Prix, winning the race despite starting from seventeenth place. His performance did not go unnoticed by Eddie Jordan, who compared him to two soccer legends.
The Red Bull driver crossed the finish line with nearly a 20-second lead over the nearest competitor. This brought him significantly closer to clinching his fourth world title, which, under certain circumstances, he could already celebrate in Las Vegas.
Eddie Jordan’s praise
Speaking to Talksport, Eddie Jordan praised Max Verstappen’s performance in Brazil, comparing him to some of F1’s legends.
“In my life, and I’m certainly no stranger to this racing game as I’ve been involved from day one, I don’t know a better driver,” the Irishman stated.
“I had Senna and Michael Schumacher in the car, and they were exceptional. But what I saw and witnessed from Max Verstappen in São Paulo was something completely beyond the norm in terms of brilliance.”
Illustrious comparisons
In addition to comparing Max Verstappen to other legends of the sport, like Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, Eddie Jordan went so far as to bring in legends from the world of soccer.
“Sometimes you see a Maradona or a Messi, and you say, ‘Oh my God, how did they do that?’ The situation in São Paulo, with Verstappen making up ground on the entire field, is something I’ve never seen before. I’ve never seen a style like that and such total calm,” concluded the former team manager. “The guy was brilliant.”
