Now more than ever, Jack Doohan is under pressure: his season has not been impressive so far. A retirement in Australia, a thirteenth place in China, and a P15 at the Suzuka circuit. It’s true that this Alpine has not been delivering the expected results, as even his teammate Pierre Gasly has struggled to score points (his disqualification in Shanghai still weighs on the team).
After the crash, Jack Doohan continued to have difficulties during Saturday’s qualifying, and it’s clear he is still suffering the aftereffects of that painful impact.
In recent hours, an onboard video from his Alpine has surfaced online, showing the driver unable to exit the cockpit at the end of the race. It almost seems that Jack Doohan cannot use his left arm to lift himself from the seat. In the clip, the #7 is seen stuck for several seconds after several attempts to free himself.
Only one mechanic and Esteban Ocon approach to help him out of the car. The Haas driver is later seen helping Jack Doohan, who is walking with difficulty, supporting him with one arm around his back.
Did the Australian race with an injury? Yet, in his team radio at the end of the race, there’s no mention of any physical issues: “I’m getting out now, thanks again.”
Here’s the onboard video from Jack Doohan’s Alpine, clearly showing his difficulty in getting out:
Apparently after the race, Jack wasn’t able to get out of his car himself and Esteban stepped in to help and held onto him as well🥹 pic.twitter.com/cnGYib87rh
