Coulthard launches a podcast with Buxton: here’s what it will be called

David Coulthard continues to reinvent himself. After a long and successful career in Formula 1 and years as a familiar television face, the 13-time Grand Prix winner is returning to the spotlight with a new media project designed to become a reference point for fans: a podcast aimed at getting to the heart of the paddock and showing what television does not.

A new chapter for a legendary voice

The former Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull driver will co-host the new podcast Up To Speed alongside Will Buxton, the well-known voice from Drive To Survive. Now 54 years old, Coulthard is one of the most recognizable figures in the F1 Circus: after retiring in 2008, he moved to the BBC, then Channel 4, and finally F1TV, becoming a constant presence on race weekends.

He now embarks on a different role, joined by Buxton, presenter Jolie Sharpe, and former driver turned pundit Naomi Schiff. The podcast will debut on February 16, produced by the same team behind The Overlap. Episodes will air twice a week: Mondays will focus on race reviews, and Thursdays will cover the hottest topics in Formula 1.

Coulthard explained the new venture:

“The Formula 1 audience continues to grow every year, and with so much momentum in this sport, this feels like the perfect time to launch a podcast like this. It’s an important season for Formula 1, and we want to bring fans right into the heart of the paddock. Expect great interviews, in-depth analysis, and above all, a genuine passion and love for racing. We can’t wait to get started and have you with us.”

A team built to tell the paddock story from within

Buxton, who left F1TV in 2025 to cover IndyCar for FOX Sports, returns to the world of Formula 1, full of enthusiasm:

“Formula 1 isn’t just about what happens on track, but also the drama, the characters, the unseen moments, and the questions fans are dying to ask. Launching this podcast with Naomi, David, and Jolie felt like the perfect way to open the doors a bit more.”

Schiff, now a face of Sky Sports F1, adds a valuable perspective thanks to her direct experience in motorsport:

“Being at races week after week gives us a real sense of what happens beyond the headlines. This podcast aims to share those conversations, those moments, and those perspectives with fans, exploring what truly matters on and off track.”

Up To Speed is designed with a clear goal: to provide an authentic, immediate, and expert look at a world driven by details, tension, and often unseen stories. With four complementary voices and immense collective experience, the project has all the ingredients to become a new benchmark in F1 storytelling. Once again, Coulthard proves he can evolve while maintaining his central presence in the Circus.
