Daniel Ricciardo already has a new offer on the table: it comes from Australia. CEO of Supercars wants to convince Daniel Ricciardo to join the Australian championship.

Return to origins

Shane Howard, CEO of Supercars, has expressed his willingness to go to great lengths to convince Daniel Ricciardo to join the Australian championship.

Dropped by Red Bull’s management no more than two weeks ago, Daniel Ricciardo’s career could restart in his homeland, Australia. The 35-year-old from Perth has long given up on the dream of becoming a Formula 1 world champion, unable to fully capitalize on the second chance given to him by Helmut Marko and Christian Horner.

However, it might not yet be time for Daniel Ricciardo to hang up his helmet, despite rumors of a possible return to the Red Bull family as an ambassador.

Shane Howard, CEO of the Repco Supercars Championship, one of the most prestigious touring car competitions in Australia and New Zealand, has said he’s ready to go to great lengths to convince him to join the championship and has already reached out to his management.

“I believe everyone would welcome Daniel with open arms, absolutely,” Shane Howard told News Corp. “Would we love to see Daniel Ricciardo in a Supercar? 100%. Imagine if he could get into one of our cars and race in a new street race in Perth: that would be something special, wouldn’t it? It would be an absolutely extraordinary experience. He’s an incredible driver and personality, and people love him. Imagine him racing at Bathurst, wow. It would be really fantastic.” – the CEO of Supercars added.

“When the time is right, we’ll get in touch with Daniel and his management,” he added. “Obviously, he has a lot on his plate, and we respect that. Blake Friend, on his management team, used to work for us. When the time is right, we’ll reach out to him. We’d absolutely love to have him in one of our cars, 100%.” – Shane Howard concluded.
