Carlos Sainz sends touching message to his father ahead of the 2026 Dakar Rally. Carlos Sainz Jr. shared a moving tribute to his father, Carlos Sainz Sr.

The bond between Carlos Sainz and his father goes far beyond the racetrack. As Sainz Sr. prepares to challenge the grueling Dakar Rally once again with Ford and Red Bull, Carlos has dedicated a message full of pride and emotion to his lifelong hero.

The father of Formula 1 star Carlos Sainz, the legendary Sainz Sr., is returning to tackle the Dakar Rally, this time behind the wheel of a Ford M-Sport Raptor backed by Red Bull. Ahead of the ceremonial start, the Williams driver chose to pay homage to his father by recreating a historic photo from the past. Sainz Sr. is a true icon of the rallying world—a multi-time World Rally Champion and a repeat winner of the world-famous Dakar Rally. His most recent triumph came in the car category in 2024, and this year he returns to the dunes with Ford Racing, bringing his immense talent and unparalleled experience to a brand-new project.

Before his father embarked on this latest adventure, Carlos Sainz Jr. took to social media to post a message charged with emotion: “I’ve watched you face this challenge for years. Last summer, I got a small taste of it myself, and my admiration for you and what you do only continues to grow. Good luck at the Dakar, Dad. Proud of you for how you keep pushing and raising the bar! Vamos!”

Accompanying the heartfelt message, the F1 driver shared two distinct images: one from his early childhood and another taken a few years ago during a visit to support his father at the event. The dedication shown by Carlos Sainz and the deep connection he shares with his father demonstrate how much sport can unite different generations. This upcoming Dakar will undoubtedly be a special moment for both of them as they represent the Sainz name on two of the world’s biggest racing stages.

As the elder Sainz begins his journey across the sands, his son’s support highlights the mutual respect between two of Spain’s greatest athletes. While Carlos Jr. prepares for his new chapter with Williams in F1, he clearly remains his father’s biggest fan, proving that the competitive fire in the Sainz family shows no signs of burning out. Ultimately, this public display of affection reminds us that even at the pinnacle of professional racing, the strongest motivations are often found closest to home.
