1 point in 4 GPs
It hasn’t been an easy start to 2025 for Carlos Sainz. After being dropped by Ferrari and joining Williams, the Spaniard has struggled to adapt to his new car. In four races, the Madrid-born driver has scored just one point, compared to the 18 of his teammate Alex Albon. Even in Bahrain, where Carlos Sainz managed to reach Q3 in qualifying, he was forced to retire after a heavy collision with Yuki Tsunoda’s Red Bull.
A matter of realism
Speaking to the official F1 channel in Saudi Arabia, #55 reflected once again on what happened in Sakhir and admitted he may need to change his approach on track now that he’s racing for a midfield team. “Maybe this year with the Ferraris, the Mercedes and the Red Bulls I need to change my approach if I find myself ahead of them,” the former Ferrari driver acknowledged.
Choosing opponents wisely
“Last year I was battling hard with them, but maybe this year I need to be a bit more realistic and let them go, especially on a track like Bahrain where overtaking is still quite easy. On circuits like Sakhir I have to learn to choose my battles more carefully and make sure I finish in the points,” Carlos Sainz concluded. This weekend’s race in Jeddah will be a special one for him: last year, the Spaniard did not take part in the GP due to appendicitis, which forced him to spend a few days in hospital.
