The surprise of Williams
The first weekend of the 2025 season is finally upon us, and with the Australian Grand Prix, all the teams and drivers who have sparked curiosity during the winter break or the tests will go head-to-head. Among them is certainly Williams, which, in addition to the positive results in Bahrain, will field the duo of Alex Albon and the new acquisition Carlos Sainz, coming from Ferrari.
Alex Albon optimistic
The Grove-based team heads to Melbourne as one of the most surprising teams, but most importantly, with a clear intention to continue growing after a series of seasons at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship. This goal is shared by Alex Albon, who is ready to begin his fourth consecutive season with Williams: “The first race of the season is finally here,” said the Anglo-Thai driver. “It’s great to be back in Melbourne: there’s always a very lively atmosphere and great support from Asia. This year, Melbourne follows a very intense off-season full of big events for the team, including the announcement of Atlassian as our new Title Partner. We’ve also done extensive preparation for the race. The pre-season test in Bahrain was positive, and we learned a lot about the new car. Before the season started, Carlos and I agreed on the areas that needed attention, and I know that everyone has worked hard behind the scenes to act on our feedback, so I feel quite good heading into this year. We are in a better position than at the start of last season. I can’t wait to get back on track and see how we compare to the other teams.”
Carlos Sainz’s new arrival
Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, and now Williams. For Carlos Sainz, 2025 marks a new chapter in his Formula 1 career, which began ten years ago. The Spaniard is excited and determined to tackle the championship after the positive first impressions gained in the tests: “The off-season is behind us, and we’re back in Melbourne for the season opener,” he said. “It’s been a busy winter, during which we’ve been catching up with Williams and getting to know the new car, but I’m ready to get behind the wheel to see how the car performs compared to our competitors. Although we left the tests with a positive feeling about our performance and our gains, it’s always difficult to say without knowing what our competitors are doing, so we’ll have a better understanding during Saturday’s qualifying. I want to thank all the team members who’ve worked hard over the last few months to prepare the car and get it into a good position. We hope to start the season well and bring some positive momentum right from Australia. Vamos!” – the Spanish driver concluded.
