What initially seemed like a fading possibility has now become official: Cadillac will join as the eleventh team on the F1 grid starting with the 2026 season. This will bring the number of cars on the grid to 22 for a championship that will also feature the debut of the new technical regulations.
The upcoming season, starting in a few months in Australia, will mark the final year for the current cars. Two years from now, Formula 1 will undergo another major transformation, and Cadillac is ready to be part of it. It will undoubtedly be a significant challenge, but one the American brand is eager to take on.
Team Principal revealed
While the driver lineup remains undecided, Cadillac has announced that Graeme Lowdon will take on the role of Team Principal. Graeme Lowdon previously served as Sporting Director for Manor between 2010 and 2016.
“I am truly honored to take on this role and thank those who entrusted me with this opportunity,” Graeme Lowdon stated. “I believe Formula 1 is the greatest team sport in the world, where teams truly make the difference.”
“Our team is full of passion and determination to race. Racing must be part of our DNA and the reason behind everything we do. I want to see this spirit in my team and can’t wait to be part of it.”
“I have the utmost respect for the challenge ahead,” Lowdon added. “We look forward to the future while staying focused on the present.”
