Cadillac announces simulator driver lineup with former Haas F1 driver included
Cadillac has finalized its selection of drivers who will lead the team’s simulator program, and among them is a former Formula 1 driver. The American squad continues its recruitment strategy as it prepares for its first F1 season. Alongside the chosen test drivers, the race seats will be taken by Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, whose experience will be crucial in guiding the project.
Cadillac prepares for its Formula 1 debut
The American manufacturer, set to make its debut in 2026, is meticulously planning every detail of its entry into Formula 1. For months, the team has been simulating full F1 race weekends to ensure maximum preparation ahead of the opening round in Melbourne. Sergio “Checo” Perez has already visited the Charlotte headquarters and will soon complete simulator sessions at the Silverstone base. Reports suggest that the first on-track test will also take place shortly, using a 2023 Ferrari chassis.
The decision on the simulator drivers
Cadillac has emphasized the importance of simulator development and selected Pietro Fittipaldi, Simon Pagenaud, and Charlie Eastwood as its official drivers. Team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed that the work done at Charlotte will be vital for building a competitive structure ahead of the team’s debut.
All three drivers have shown a strong commitment to collaborating with engineers to accelerate the car’s development. Pagenaud, a 2019 Indy 500 winner, competed in IndyCar until 2023, when a serious accident ended his career. Eastwood, on the other hand, remains active in GT3 with Corvette.
Pietro Fittipaldi brings F1 experience
The inclusion of Fittipaldi provides valuable experience from Formula 1. The Brazilian previously served as Haas reserve driver and made two Grand Prix appearances in 2020, stepping in for Romain Grosjean following his dramatic crash in Bahrain.
“I am very proud to finally announce my entry into Cadillac F1. Over the last few months we have been working together on the development of the team’s 2026 Formula 1 car through simulator sessions and full Grand Prix simulations. It is a privilege to be part of such an iconic brand as Cadillac,” the former Haas driver stated on his social media channels.
