There is a sense of major changes at Aston Martin. According to sources during the early hours of the weekend at the Interlagos circuit, Lawrence Stroll’s team appears set to undergo a significant internal restructuring.
According to the BBC, the Anglo-Canadian team is reviewing its technical hierarchy ahead of the 2026 F1 season. This major change will include new developments that are expected to be announced soon.
Aston Martin reorganizes
The source, as reported by the BBC, preferred to remain anonymous and did not confirm any of the information gathered by colleagues. The details mainly concern departures, dismissals, or even internal relocations. At least seven prominent employees could leave Aston Martin’s F1 program by the end of the year. Among them could be former chief designer Akio Haga.
However, it should be noted that this concerns the F1 program specifically. Some of these employees could be relocated within the wider Aston Martin family and work on other motorsport activities.
At least seven significant departures could be replaced by other key figures. Some of these replacements may have already arrived. These include Adrian Newey from Red Bull, assigned the role of managing technical partner; former Ferrari chassis technical director Enrico Cardile; and the new general director and CEO Andy Cowell, previously with Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines.
If the BBC’s information proves correct, it is not certain that all seven technical figures mentioned will be fully replaced by 2026. Reviewing the hierarchy could also mean merging departments or dividing them, which could lead to a reduction in staff. This may result in a leaner organization and more efficient cost management.
