Audi heads to Spa-Francorchamps looking to confirm the progress it showed at Silverstone. The Belgian Grand Prix, followed by the Hungarian Grand Prix, marks the final back-to-back race weekends before the summer break and represents a crucial period for the German team.
After returning to the points at Silverstone, Audi is aiming to deliver another encouraging performance before the second half of the Formula 1 season gets underway.
Allan McNish: “Silverstone was another positive step forward”
“Silverstone represented another positive step forward for our team. Overall, there were plenty of encouraging signs. Over the last few races we’ve been moving in the right direction, and now the challenge is to deliver performances at that level consistently.
“There is a positive atmosphere within the team and everyone is pushing in the same direction. Spa is a demanding circuit and presents a very different challenge for our cars compared to Silverstone, but it’s also another great opportunity to continue our progress,” admitted Audi Sporting Director Allan McNish.
Nico Hülkenberg eager to bounce back
The German driver was left frustrated after retiring from the British Grand Prix, but he is determined to return to the points at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
“Ending the race early at Silverstone because of a gearbox issue was difficult to accept, especially because we were in a position to fight for points before we had to retire. The positive aspect is that our pace has definitely been moving in the right direction over the last few races.
“We’ve been consistently fighting at the front of the midfield, and that’s what we want to build on. Now we’re heading to Spa—one of the classics on the Formula 1 calendar—and I’m really looking forward to getting back on track. If we can put together a clean weekend without any setbacks, we’ll give ourselves the best possible chance of bringing home another solid result.”
Gabriel Bortoleto targeting another top-10 finish
Gabriel Bortoleto arrives in Belgium with a different feeling after securing eighth place at Silverstone and hopes to repeat that result.
“Scoring points at Silverstone was a fantastic result for the team and a great reward for all the hard work everyone has put in. It’s also another boost of motivation heading into the final back-to-back before the summer break.
“We’ve made steady progress over the last few races, and it’s important that we continue in that direction. Spa is an incredible circuit to race on, and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel, continuing to learn how to extract the maximum from our car and, hopefully, fighting for another strong result,” concluded the Brazilian.
