Aston Martin, Felipe Drugovich debuts in the AMR25
Felipe Drugovich will soon be back on track for Aston Martin. The Brazilian driver will be fielded by the Silverstone-based team in Bahrain’s FP1 session scheduled for this Friday: during the first 60 minutes of the weekend, he will take Fernando Alonso’s place.
Felipe Drugovich, Aston Martin’s test and reserve driver, has never taken part in a Formula 1 Grand Prix but has already accumulated many kilometres behind the wheel of an F1 car: over 9,000, thanks to his participation in the 2023 pre-season tests (held right at the Sakhir circuit) and five previous free practice sessions completed with Lawrence Stroll’s team.
Felipe Drugovich’s words
“I’m very happy to be back in an F1 car, especially at the start of the season. I’ve been preparing in the simulator to get familiar with the car, and Bahrain is a track I know well and really enjoy driving,” said the 2022 F2 champion. “I’m excited to contribute and provide the team with the data it needs to perform at its best this weekend. Thanks to the whole team for their continued support.”
Andy Cowell’s words
“We’re pleased to offer Felipe this opportunity to drive the AMR25 in Bahrain,” added team principal Andy Cowell. “He’s been an integral part of our team’s simulation programme at the AMR Technology Campus and consistently provides valuable feedback that contributes to the car’s development. Felipe is a trusted figure and we’re confident he’ll do an excellent job in FP1.”
