Following the bombshell dropped on the eve of the Las Vegas weekend, it is now official: Andretti (initially under General Motors management) will enter Formula 1 in 2026.
In recent days, the American giant has posted dozens of job openings online, mainly in engineering and aerodynamics, further proof of a project that continues to take shape with solid foundations. In the past few hours, Andretti Global has announced the recruitment of another high-profile figure: Rob White, former Renault engine chief, who will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.
The American engineer boasts an extensive career in Formula 1, having started at Cosworth in 1990, becoming chief engineer seven years later. White then took on the role of technical director for engines at Renault in 2004, playing a significant part in Fernando Alonso’s double world championship wins in the following two years.
“I am pleased to announce that I have just taken on the position of Chief Operating Officer – Andretti Cadillac at Andretti Global,” commented White in a post published on LinkedIn.
“I am excited to join the team. My first impressions of everything that has been achieved by those who joined the team before me are impressive. I look forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead.”
White’s hiring marks the fourth major senior appointment for Andretti, which a few months ago announced the arrival of Pat Symonds as executive engineering consultant, along with Nick Chester as technical director and Jon Tomlinson as head of aerodynamics.
