Fernando Alonso, the two-time world champion and current Aston Martin driver, extended heartfelt congratulations to Max Verstappen following the Dutchman’s fourth consecutive title win at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso on Max Verstappen: “This year has been incredible…”
“I can imagine this title feels very special to him since his car was probably not as strong as last year,” the Spanish driver commented after the race in Las Vegas.
“This year, he’s done an incredible job, achieving results with a car that realistically wasn’t capable of fighting for those kinds of outcomes. The best example of this is his performance in Brazil. He made the difference, and I think this has been his best year yet.”
Fernando Alonso’s glowing words for Max Verstappen reflect admiration for the reigning champion’s performance, and it’s hard not to agree with the Aston Martin driver’s assessment.
“You can always learn something from a driver like him and from the performances he’s shown this season.”
The Spaniard also shared thoughts on his own race, which ended just outside the points after losing a position to Sergio Perez in the final laps: “We had a great race despite starting so far back. I was still in the points zone with three or four laps to go, so it’s a bit disappointing because we deserved to score.”
The English team faced many challenges this weekend in Las Vegas, and throughout the season, but securing points would have been a welcome reward: “I’d love to get back in the cockpit and take my revenge in Qatar. The good thing is the car was competitive, and we were in the fight. So, overall, it was a positive conclusion to this weekend.” – the two-time Formula 1 world champion concluded.
