Colapinto in top 10: “One of my best Fridays as an Alpine driver”

Q3 target

Franco Colapinto finished ninth on Friday at Zandvoort, posting a solid lap in the qualifying simulation on soft tyres. The Argentine driver is also satisfied with the long-run pace, but on this circuit, the focus is clearly on single-lap performance. Below are the statements from Colapinto and Pierre Gasly following the free practice sessions ahead of a crucial Saturday.

Franco Colapinto

“It was a decent day where we made good progress with the car. The feeling on the flying lap was good, and we continue to try new things, which is bringing some improvements. So I think we can be satisfied with our Friday at Zandvoort. We had a few laps compromised by traffic, and the red flags didn’t help. We need to work on finding consistency with low fuel on the soft tyre and understand how to make the car more predictable. Definitely, it’s one of my best Fridays since racing with Alpine.”

Pierre Gasly

“It’s great to be back in the car here at Zandvoort. It was a very mixed day, with some interruptions and red flags in both sessions. Nevertheless, we managed to have a good feel for the car’s behavior. During our run on soft tyres in Free Practice 2, I was happy with what we learned, even though there was traffic and the lap time wasn’t representative. As usual, we still need to fine-tune the balance a bit, but we have a good starting point to work from. Some cars are out of our reach, so we can’t be too confident about our current position, but our goal is simply to get the car into a good place and make the most of it.” – Pierre Gasly concluded at the end of the second free practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix.
