On the eve of the Miami weekend, which will feature a Sprint format, Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan reflect on the past three consecutive rounds. These races helped the team understand what worked, like in Bahrain, and what didn’t go as planned. Doohan, in particular, has never driven in Miami and will only have one session to get into qualifying rhythm.
As the Alpine team gears up for this key event, here are Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan’s thoughts ahead of the race:
“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel this week for the Miami Grand Prix. After my retirement in Jeddah due to the first-lap collision with Yuki [Tsunoda], I’m determined to do everything necessary to ensure a strong performance this weekend. Overall, the last three rounds were challenging, but we showed competitive pace, especially in Bahrain. In the United States, we must continue on this path, aim for a result in every race, and catch up to some of our rivals. Miami will be the second Sprint of the year. As always, that means we need to be ready for the Sprint Shootout on Friday afternoon. The circuit is one of the most enjoyable on the calendar. It’s great to race around the Hard Rock Stadium and have a paddock based on an NFL field. The track is interesting, with two long straights that offer overtaking opportunities. Last year I performed well and came very close to scoring points in both races. This weekend is expected to be very hot and humid, so our goal will be to optimize the car for these conditions and fight for points in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix.”
“I’m excited to head to Miami for another Sprint weekend, the second of the season. The triple-header was challenging at times, but it provided many learning opportunities and a lot of data to analyze. We’ve clearly made progress since the start of the year and need to build on that every time we hit the track. It was nice to have a week to rest and recharge. I took the opportunity to prepare for Miami by working at the factory and in the simulator with the team. The circuit is unique, with the NFL stadium at its center, and American fans always bring an incredible atmosphere. I already felt that energy last year and have a great memory of getting a ride from Patrick Mahomes! Now I’m looking forward to experiencing what it’s like to be a regular driver during a Sprint weekend, where it’s crucial to get up to speed quickly. We’ll do everything we can to approach both the Sprint and the Grand Prix from a strong position and be able to fight for points.”
The Miami weekend promises excitement not only due to the Sprint format but also thanks to the energy and determination that Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan bring to the track. With its ongoing efforts to improve competitiveness, Alpine aims to turn lessons learned in previous rounds into tangible results. It will be interesting to see how the two drivers adapt to the challenges of the Miami circuit and whether they can meet the team’s ambitious goals. This race is a crucial opportunity to showcase the team’s potential and strengthen its path toward consistently better performances.
