Alpine, together with Sauber, was the only team to bring technical updates at the Qatar GP. The Enstone team, in addition to undergoing a restructuring of its departments (starting in 2026, the transmission area will disappear as the team will adopt the Mercedes gearbox and power unit), is spending its last budget cap resources to bring forward developments that will be useful for the 2025 car, which is already in an advanced stage of production.
At Lusail, Alpine introduced a new front wing paired with a shorter nose. The technical staff led by David Sanchez decided to change the aerodynamic philosophy of the A524’s front end, following the choices previously made by the top teams.
The new configuration was given only to Pierre Gasly, while Esteban Ocon stayed with the standard design. Previously, the nose rested on the main profile, reaching the spoon-shaped oval section. Now, we see a nose with a shorter, squarer tip that attaches to the second element. This creates an airflow passage that increases the flow under the bodywork, feeding the Venturi channels with more energy.
As a result, all elements of the front wing have been redesigned: the central part of the main profile is narrower, and the chord increases near the side fence, which has remained unchanged. Consequently, the surface of the second element has been significantly increased, making it the support element, while the two upper flaps have been updated to better manage the programmed deformations, allowing for a better balance between low-speed sections and high-speed corners.
