The Imola Grand Prix marks an important stage in Alpine’s 2025 season and, above all, in Franco Colapinto’s career. The young Argentine talent is ready to officially return to Formula 1 with the French team, lining up alongside Pierre Gasly at a crucial point in the season — the European phase — which could revive the team’s ambitions after an inconsistent start.
Despite only sporadic results so far, Alpine has shown technical potential that has yet to be fully realised. That’s why Imola represents a big opportunity: an old-school track, narrow and demanding, where every detail matters and qualifying on Saturday can determine the outcome on Sunday.
Pierre Gasly, coming off a point scored in the Miami Sprint, is aiming for the top ten: “Imola is one of my favourite circuits. It has a rich history, fast corners, and very little room for error. We’ve done a lot of simulator work to be ready — being quick on a single lap will be crucial because overtaking is really tough.” – he pointed out ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend.
But all eyes are on Colapinto, returning to the track for the first time since December: “I’m grateful for this opportunity. Imola is special for me — I’ve won here in Formula 3 and Formula 2, and now a new adventure begins. The goal is to get up to speed quickly and help the team. I feel ready thanks to the work done with Alpine over the past months.”
The debut of the young Argentine brings fresh energy and motivation to a team that has gone through yet another shake-up in recent years. To return consistently to the points zone, they’ll need to make the most of every opportunity. And on a circuit like Imola, there’s room to shine — but only with a flawless weekend and maximum focus.
