It will be a long night for Alpine too in Monaco: the competitors are very strong, and on a track like this, where every detail makes a difference, it will be crucial to work hard and improve. Traffic will also be a major challenge—an element that has always been capable of causing several twists during a race.
After more positive FP1s compared to FP2s, with Gasly and Colapinto ending up at the back of the grid, FP3 tomorrow will be key to recovering performance and hoping for a good qualifying result. Will the Enstone team manage the feat? Below are the impressions shared by their two drivers at the end of the day.
Words from Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto
“It’s amazing to be back in Monaco. It’s without doubt one of the best moments of the year and I love driving here. I think our FP1 was much better than FP2. We immediately found a good rhythm and finished the first session in first place. The others seemed to make more progress during the second session, where we had a few issues on our side,” said Pierre Gasly.
“We ran some individual laps, but simply lost rhythm. For now, we’ve fallen behind the competition. We have work to do tonight and we need to find the performance to be in the game. I know we’re capable of doing it, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow—it’s one of the best qualifying sessions of the year,” he concluded.
“Discovering Monaco behind the wheel of an F1 was a great experience. The circuit offers unique challenges and demands a lot of confidence from the driver to get a good lap. We used Friday to build confidence with the car across both sessions and I think we’re still well positioned for tomorrow,” added Franco Colapinto. “We completed some positive long runs, but we had to deal with heavy traffic and a red flag that made FP2 very difficult to manage. We’re still trailing and need to work tonight to understand how to extract more from both our cars, especially given how crucial qualifying is this weekend. Pierre and I will work with the team to review the day and come back stronger tomorrow,” he concluded.
