Cadillac with Sergio Perez
Cadillac will enter Formula 1 in the 2026 season, using Ferrari power units, and is already scouting for the two drivers who will debut with the team in the premier motorsport category. One of the leading candidates is Sergio Perez, who raced for Red Bull from 2021 to 2024, securing six victories. Currently without a seat, he is eager to return to the grid.
The Cadillac-Sergio Perez- Donald Trump Triangle
Spanish outlet Marca considers Sergio Perez the frontrunner for Cadillac, believing the Mexican driver is the brand’s top choice. However, his candidacy is also reportedly being boosted by ‘political’ factors tied to a broader scenario involving U.S. President Donald Trump.
General Motors and Cadillac have well-documented ties to Donald Trump, evident in the U.S. government’s $41 million investment through 2029 for the production of a new presidential limousine. Trump himself has expressed his fondness for the brand: “My father was a great man. I learned so much from him. And he loved Cadillacs. His biggest luxury in life was getting a brand-new dark blue Cadillac every two years. My father liked Cadillacs, so for me, it’s everything,” he said during his election campaign.
This is where Cadillac’s F1 entry comes into play. Marca writes: “Sergio would be the ideal driver, also because he is Mexican, which would present a positive image for the Republicans led by Donald Trump. His signing would demonstrate that immigration policies are not racially motivated but are aimed at welcoming hardworking individuals rather than criminals, as the President has claimed. Having Sergio Perez in an American F1 team would be the perfect example of this narrative.”
Additionally, Sergio Perez’s wealthy personal sponsors would have no objections to placing their brands on a Cadillac.
