Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen: two names that have nothing in common. The first is a Formula 1 rookie, an 18-year-old Italian who just got his driver’s license, making his debut with Mercedes. The second needs no introduction: a Dutchman, four-time world champion with Red Bull.
Verstappen’s career in the top tier of motorsport began before he even came of age. In 2015, at just 17, he became the youngest driver ever to debut in Formula 1. The Dutchman had already set another personal milestone when he won his first Grand Prix at 18 years and 228 days old. With this achievement, young Max also became the youngest F1 driver to win a race.
This year, Kimi Antonelli could attempt to break that record, but he must do so within the first three Grands Prix of the 2025 season. His first chance could come in the season opener at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit.
The second opportunity for Kimi Antonelli will be at the Shanghai International Circuit for the Chinese GP. His last chance to break Verstappen’s record would be at the iconic Suzuka International Circuit in Japan.
The goal for Kimi Antonelli is not entirely unrealistic, but this is not meant to put pressure on the young driver. The Silver Arrows returned to winning ways last season, securing four victories in Austria, Silverstone, Belgium, and Las Vegas. If Mercedes can provide Antonelli and his teammate George Russell with a competitive car, the Italian driver could attempt to become the youngest Grand Prix winner in history.
