Valtteri Bottas not saying goodbye to F1 in 2025: is a big comeback on the horizon?. Valtteri Bottas's departure from Kick Sauber means he is no longer part of Audi’s F1 project.

Valtteri Bottas’s departure from Kick Sauber also means he is no longer part of Audi’s Formula 1 project, which would have seen him drive alongside Nico Hulkenberg. This development raises the possibility of a potential comeback at Mercedes in 2025.

Currently, Valtteri Bottas is without a seat, and despite widespread talks about an imminent renewal with what will become Audi, he and the team ultimately went their separate ways. “We realized that the conditions weren’t right to continue this project together,” the Finnish driver explained.

The dual departure at Sauber has shocked fans, though many anticipated that a major shake-up was likely at some point. In fact, Nico Hulkenberg will be joined next season by young driver Gabriel Bortoleto.

A Mercedes Reunion for Valtteri Bottas?

While Zhou may be saying a (temporary) goodbye to Formula 1, Valtteri Bottas could remain involved in the sport next season. One possibility is a return to Mercedes, the team that brought him Grand Prix victories and two runner-up finishes in the championship.

Shortly after Valtteri Bottas’s departure was confirmed, F1TV journalist Lawrence Barretto indicated that the Finnish driver could likely be heading to Brackley, where he would reunite with Toto Wolff. Bottas would take on the role of third driver for the Silver Arrows. Though he would no longer hold a full-time seat in Formula 1, this move would allow Valtteri Bottas to continue his F1 career. It would be a comeback for him after just three years away from Brackley, following his replacement by George Russell.

So, it may not yet be time to say goodbye to F1 for one of the paddock’s most beloved drivers.
