Happy Birthday, Toto Wolff
Toto Wolff celebrates his birthday away from the Formula 1 tracks. The Mercedes team principal, who also owns a third of the team alongside the Stuttgart-based company and the chemical giant Ineos led by James Ratcliffe, turns 53 today. The occasion didn’t go unnoticed by the two official drivers of the Brackley-based team, who sent their boss birthday messages on social media, accompanied by some playful jabs about his age and fitness as the F1 season approaches.
The birthday wishes were shared on Mercedes‘ social media accounts (video above), with Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell taking turns wishing Wolff a happy birthday. The tone and lighthearted banter reflect the friendly and informal relationship Toto shares with his team.
Special Birthday Wishes from George Russell and Kimi Antonelli
George Russell was, unsurprisingly, the cheekiest, poking fun at his boss’s advancing age. “Toto, happy birthday! Have an amazing day. You look great for being 63 years old.” George Russell then delivered his gag, glancing away as if seeking confirmation from someone off-screen and joking about Toto Wolff’s actual age: “Is it 53? No, no, it’s 63! But you look fantastic for 63… Happy birthday!”
Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the talented 18-year-old Italian who will take on the challenging task of replacing Lewis Hamilton this season, was more formal in his approach: “Happy birthday, Toto! You’re getting older, but don’t worry—you’re still in great shape. Enjoy this day as much as you can with your family and have fun. Make sure to eat as much food as you can today, since you don’t have to be a driver.”
