Mercedes-Ineos partnership continues
In recent days, rumors had emerged about a possible split between Mercedes and Ineos, suggesting that Daimler might acquire Jim Ratcliffe’s 33% stake. However, the Brackley team’s structure will remain unchanged, as Toto Wolff was quick to dismiss any notion of Ineos leaving the team.
Toto Wolff’s words
“It has never been considered. Ratcliffe is one of the three pillars alongside me and Mercedes. We will never part ways; he has been a great sponsor,” the Austrian team principal told Sky Sports UK. “We have had projects together, and nothing reported in the news will change that.”
“There has never been any discussion about a change in shareholders. The sponsorship with Ineos is ongoing and stable,” added a team spokesperson to Crash.
Ineos, the British petrochemical giant, is involved in multiple sports and first appeared as a sponsor on the W11 in early 2020, one of the most dominant F1 cars ever. At the end of that season, Ratcliffe’s company acquired a 33% stake in Mercedes, dividing team ownership equally with Wolff and Daimler AG.
