Mercedes raises the bar: Toto Wolff applauds the team’s impressive work

Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes, expressed great satisfaction with the impressive performance of his team at the Singapore Grand Prix, emphasizing how George Russell’s victory and Kimi Antonelli’s fifth-place finish were the result of a consistent and solid level of competitiveness throughout the weekend.

“The result in Singapore was not a coincidence,” said Wolff. “We showed a very high level of competitiveness both in qualifying and in the race, proving that our performance is strong and reliable. This season has been a constant challenge, where every single weekend can bring surprises, and we have demonstrated that we can compete with anyone on the grid.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming races, Wolff explained how the Circuit of the Americas will be a particularly interesting technical challenge for the team. “Austin is always a special stop in the calendar,” he commented. “The fans there are incredibly passionate, and the track layout is complex — with significant elevation changes, fast corners, and slower technical sections. It’s a circuit that tests the car and drivers in equal measure. The Sprint weekend format will make things even more unpredictable, adding another strategic layer that can make the difference between a great result and a missed opportunity.”

The Austrian team principal underlined the importance of preparation and adaptability in a season where margins are extremely tight. “We are ready to face this challenge with a concrete and methodical approach,” Wolff concluded. “If we manage to get our W16 quickly into the leading positions during qualifying, we’ll be able to maximize the opportunities that the Sprint format offers and carry this positive momentum into the coming races.”

Mercedes therefore seems determined to confirm its strength in a championship that is proving to be one of the most competitive and unpredictable in recent years. With both George Russell and Kimi Antonelli showing confidence and pace, the team appears to have found the right direction to consistently fight at the top once again. As the battle intensifies towards the final part of the season, all eyes will be on how Mercedes continues to develop and whether this newfound momentum can translate into sustained success.
