“Singapore has always been a very difficult circuit for us, with the heat and the constant traction demands,” Wolff explained. “But today we saw a car-driver combination that was simply dominant.” The Austrian team principal emphasized how the results were a reflection of meticulous preparation and adaptation to one of the toughest races of the season.
Wolff also discussed how the data gathered during the weekend could prove crucial for the remaining races of the championship. “We certainly hope so. It’s always the case with these ground-effect cars — there are constant surprises, and you never know how the car will react on different circuits. But these results give us very valuable insights for further development,” he noted.
The Mercedes boss reserved particular praise for young driver Kimi Antonelli, who impressed once again with a series of decisive overtakes and a perfectly managed race. “It was a solid performance,” Wolff said. “Kimi made a very strong overtaking move, and from the data we’ve seen, it’s almost impossible to apply more brake pressure than he did. He fully deserves his position today and will continue to contribute to the car’s development.”
Wolff went on to underline how the team’s ability to handle extreme conditions was another key factor in their success. “When everyone executes their job perfectly, the final result reflects the team’s overall level of preparation and focus. Today, both drivers gave their maximum, and the car responded exactly as we hoped,” he remarked.
He concluded by praising the maturity and reliability shown by his drivers over the entire weekend, suggesting that Mercedes’ strong showing in Singapore could serve as a new benchmark for the upcoming rounds of the championship. “This race demonstrated what we’re capable of when everything comes together. It’s a great reference point for what’s ahead,” Wolff added.
