Guenther Steiner, former team principal of Haas, spoke about his experience leading the American team, revealing that he should have ended it sooner.
Guenther Steiner’s comments
These are the statements he made on the *Beyond The Grid* podcast: “I wasn’t surprised by the announcement [that I would no longer be part of the team, ed.]. Looking back, I think I should have left earlier. The team wasn’t going where I wanted it to; I was just working, but without the freedom to do what I wanted.” – the Italian and American motorsport engineer and former team manager pointed out.
“Finishing seventh, eighth, or ninth in Formula 1 is fine, but after years and years of trying to compete with the others – without the same resources – it gets frustrating. The goal was to have a project where you could say, ‘We can get on the podium sooner or later,’ but after COVID, it was clear that wasn’t going to happen. That was the right time to go and do something else,” Guenther Steiner concluded.
