The Lando Norris mystery: first he congratulates Max Verstappen, then has second thoughts | F1 Interlagos GP. Lando Norris congratulated Max Verstappen, but then deleted the message.

Max Verstappen, Lando Norris 2024 F1

Lando Norris emerged from the Brazilian weekend clearly battered, with Max Verstappen shaking up the drivers’ championship. The Dutch driver’s victory at Interlagos seems to have definitively closed the door on the title chase that Norris had been attempting to pursue.

Max Verstappen’s Brazilian win, his first in 10 races, marks his return to top form. For anyone who might have doubted, he has shown he may still be the strongest driver on the grid. Winning after starting from 17th in such a challenging weekend is the mark of a true champion.

Lando Norris Congratulates with “Simply Lovely,” Then Deletes It

Lando Norris had little control over events and ran into several issues from the start. Although he began from pole, the English driver first found himself stuck behind George Russell, then overtaken by various competitors in what quickly became a grueling race. Even Charles Leclerc’s struggling Ferrari eventually finished ahead of Norris.

After the Brazilian Grand Prix, Lando Norris posted an Instagram story on a black background, admitting he’d had a very difficult weekend but that he would keep fighting to the end despite his misfortune. He ended by congratulating Max Verstappen on his “impressive win.”

The message concluded with “As you say, ‘simply lovely’,” a phrase often associated with Max Verstappen. It was a nice gesture—until, minutes later, Lando Norris deleted the Instagram story. This decision to retract his congratulations to his Red Bull rival raises questions. The mystery surrounding the relationship between the two drivers deepens…
