In recent days, there has been renewed speculation about Checo Perez’s possible future, but his dad seems to have very clear ideas.
The Mexican signed a two-year renewal with Red Bull at the beginning of the 2024 Formula One season, but it seems to be in jeopardy. His performances have not been impressive, and Milton Keynes might find fertile ground for the idea of replacing him at the end of the season.
An additional setback to Sergio Perez’s chances came from Liam Lawson. The young New Zealander made a strong impression, especially on Helmut Marko, in his second F1 debut. According to some rumors that the international media has reported, Red Bull has decided to pair him with Max Verstappen in the 2025 Formula 1 campiagn.
In recent hours, there has also been interest in Franco Colapinto. Thus, a change could occur among South Americans within the large Red Bull family, with the Argentine joining RB and Lawson being promoted.
Sergio Perez world champion
As rumors about Sergio Perez intensify, Checo’s father, speaking to Récord+, has expressed his total support for his son.
“The best of Sergio is yet to come. I am sure that in due time he will have the weapons and tools to fight for the world championship. I am very excited,” concluded the father. “I can say that Checo will be world champion.”
The last home race?
This week, the Mexico Grand Prix takes place, which is a home race for Perez. According to some rumors, despite the denial on social media, Checo might announce his retirement this weekend. Certainly, the 34-year-old’s season has not been thrilling. His last podium was at the China GP, and he is currently 204 points behind Max Verstappen.
We will see if the home atmosphere helps the Mexican bring out something more. The certainty is that if he wants to keep his seat, he will have to step up in these last five races.
