Sergio Perez promises a strong comeback with Cadillac in 2026: “People will be surprised”. Sergio Perez is confident about his Formula 1 comeback with Cadillac.

Sergio Perez, 2024 F1

Sergio Perez is ready to surprise everyone with his return to Formula 1 alongside Cadillac in the 2026 season. After being left without a seat following a disappointing 2024 campaign with Red Bull, the Mexican driver wants to prove his critics wrong by showing that he can still be highly competitive. Sergio Perez said that people “will be surprised” by how strong he will be on his comeback, insisting that he has “a point to prove.”

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Sergio Perez admitted that he was not initially sure about returning to racing, explaining that it was Cadillac that convinced him he was ready to take this step again. “It took me about six months to realize that I wanted to come back,” the Mexican driver revealed.

“I wanted to return to finish my career the right way. At the same time, I asked myself: does it really matter? If I hadn’t found the right project or the motivation to return, I wouldn’t have even thought about it for a second,” added the former Red Bull driver.

“I’m really excited. I think I still have a lot to give to this sport. I’ve been lucky throughout my career, but I want to end it on a high. The last year of my career was difficult, but I know how competitive I can be when I have the right environment around me,” Sergio Perez said.

“I think people will be surprised by how competitive and how strong I’ll be when I return. I already have this motivation inside me. I want to prove one last point in my career and make sure I leave the sport on my own terms,” he concluded.
