Riccardo Patrese named ACI ambassador to support future Italian motorsport talent. Riccardo Patrese returns to motorsport spotlight as new ACI ambassador.

Just minutes ago it was announced that Riccardo Patrese will become the new Ambassador of the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI). As stated in the official press release, his image and experience will represent the values of the organisation in promoting automotive culture and protecting the broader interests of national motorsport.

From mobility rights to road safety, and through to daily commitment in support of motorists, Riccardo Patrese will be involved in ACI’s main initiatives across Italy.

Regarding the announcement, the President of the Automobile Club d’Italia, Geronimo La Russa, commented:

“The arrival of Riccardo Patrese as Ambassador represents added value for the entire ACI system. His sporting history, combined with credibility built over years of competition at the highest level, makes him the ideal representative of our values. Patrese has long represented Italian excellence in international motorsport and, even today, his career remains a benchmark.”

Starting from the next ACI Racing Weekend, scheduled at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on the weekend of 8–10 May, Riccardo Patrese will be present at the track, ready to put his expertise at the service of young drivers. He will be actively involved in supporting various activities within the ACI Sport Federal School.

The role of the new ambassador joins a group of highly experienced motorsport figures already representing ACI, including Gian Carlo Minardi, now Executive Councillor of ACI Sport, who together with ACI Sport President Luigi Battistolli supported Patrese’s appointment.

Riccardo Patrese then commented on his new role, saying:

“ACI has always been the essential cornerstone of Italian motorsport, a reference point capable of creating the conditions for future drivers to emerge. The ACI Sport Federal School is an excellence in the training of young talents, and I cannot wait to contribute to the next generation together with the Federation. The path of Andrea Kimi Antonelli is also proof of this, and his success is already having a positive impact on our movement.”

Finally, the Italian former F1 driver also addressed the themes of regulations and safety, adding:

“ACI exists to serve motorists, to provide the right advice on car care and driving, always in respect of the rules. I am happy to stand alongside ACI and President Geronimo La Russa to continue transmitting these principles.”

In summary, Riccardo Patrese’s new appointment as an ACI Ambassador marks a significant moment for the future of Italian racing and road safety advocacy. By leveraging the prestige of a driver who has stood on the podium of the world’s most demanding circuits, the Automobile Club d’Italia is bridging the gap between legendary heritage and modern mobility. As he prepares to mentor the next wave of talent at Misano, Patrese’s involvement serves as a vital link in the chain that supports Italian excellence, ensuring that the legacy of icons like himself continues to inspire and guide the stars of tomorrow.
