Lando Norris encountered further reliability issues on his McLaren. At the start of the second free practice session, the world champion’s car remained on the stands inside the garage, delaying the beginning of his running on track.
According to Mara Sangiorgio speaking to Sky Sport F1, a hydraulic system leak was detected on the British driver’s car. The mechanics immediately intervened to fix the issue and allow him to get back on track.
Lando Norris eventually took part in the session, completing only a single lap before returning to the garage due to further reported issues. In short, it was another difficult day for McLaren, forced to lose valuable minutes of track time during FP2.
While the pace of the McLaren remains evident when the car is running, the lack of reliability is proving to be a significant hurdle for the defending champion. Based on the content of the FP2 reports, the team will likely be working deep into the night to ensure these hydraulic failures do not compromise their qualifying efforts.
