Official – Red Bull renews partnership with Oracle: how AI could improve race strategies

Red Bull Racing has confirmed the renewal of its partnership with Oracle, title sponsor since 2022. The next challenge is understanding how much artificial intelligence can truly influence race strategy and on-track performance in Formula 1.

The collaboration between Oracle and Red Bull Racing will continue for the coming years, as the Milton Keynes-based team has officially announced a multi-year extension of its title partnership agreement. It is a strategic move ahead of the major regulatory overhaul set for 2026, which will significantly reshape the technical landscape of Formula 1.

This remains one of the most deeply integrated technological partnerships in the entire F1 paddock, with Oracle’s cloud computing and AI solutions now central to the team’s car development processes and daily operations.

Oracle to support Red Bull in 2026 power unit development

With the introduction of the new 2026 hybrid power units, the synergy between the two organizations becomes even more crucial. The engine developed by Red Bull Ford Powertrains will be designed and optimized using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), alongside advanced simulation tools and data analytics platforms.

On track, an innovative AI-based “strategy agent” will make its debut, designed to assist real-time strategic decision-making during race weekends. This evolution aims to enhance the speed of data analysis and improve the quality of calls made under intense pressure in the pit wall environment. At the same time, the team will rely on Oracle Fusion Cloud applications to manage areas such as finance, human resources and marketing, with the goal of boosting operational efficiency and internal productivity.

The words of Mekies

CEO and Team Principal Laurent Mekies emphasized the importance of the renewal, highlighting the central role of Oracle technology in the team’s recent success: “Since Oracle became title partner in 2022, the team has won three Drivers’ World Championships, two Constructors’ titles and set numerous records. Our collaboration has been extremely positive and we are delighted to continue together into this new era of Formula 1.”

“We rely on Oracle’s expertise to understand and optimize a vast number of variables with greater precision and speed than our competitors. With Oracle Cloud and Oracle AI, we can adapt quickly, make smarter decisions and maintain the level of performance required to win championships.”

How Oracle AI can improve on-track strategy

From Oracle’s side, CEO Clay Magouyrk underlined that the technologies used by the Formula 1 team are the same solutions adopted in complex business environments, where speed and decision-making capability are decisive factors.

“Oracle Red Bull Racing relies on Oracle Cloud and Oracle AI to achieve peak performance and tackle some of the most complex and time-sensitive challenges. The same technologies the team uses to model race strategy, refine the hybrid power unit and introduce new AI-driven solutions are powering digital transformation across industries worldwide.”

As Formula 1 enters a new technical era in 2026, the real question will be how much artificial intelligence can shift the competitive balance — especially in race strategy, where fractions of a second and split-second decisions often make the difference between victory and defeat.
