Red Bull denies interest in Alex Dunne, will announce 2026 drivers after F1 Mexico GP. Red Bull denies interest in 19-year-old Alex Dunne.

Helmut Marko, Red Bull boss

Rumors about Dunne

Earlier in October, McLaren shocked the F1 world by abruptly terminating Alex Dunne’s contract with immediate effect. The 19-year-old Irish driver had participated in FP1 sessions in Austria and Monza, and nothing had indicated such a sudden ending. Almost immediately, rumors emerged that Red Bull was considering Dunne, the Rodin F2 driver, for its junior program.

Helmut Marko sets the record straight

Speaking to Kleine Zeitung, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko firmly denied these rumors: “Dunne is not an option for us.” This means that the three remaining Red Bull seats are expected to be allocated to Isack Hadjar alongside Max Verstappen in Red Bull, and Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad for the Racing Bulls. Regarding Arvid Lindblad, Helmut Marko added: “He can make the jump to F1, and we will see him in the car again this season. He is younger than Isack Hadjar, and age can play a role, but he is one of our promising young talents.”

Isack Hadjar praised again

Helmut Marko continued to praise Isack Hadjar, highlighting his achievements: “Isack has established himself and achieved incredible results.” The final decision on the Red Bull 2026 driver lineup will be made “after the Mexican Grand Prix.”
