Racing Bulls will return to the track at Imola on Thursday, 27 August, with a two-part programme combining a filming day for its regular drivers and a Testing of Previous Cars session for Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov. The Bulgarian will drive the 2025 VCARB02 as he continues to build Formula 1 experience within the Red Bull development system.
The Faenza-based team has scheduled a full day of activity at the Imola circuit, using the opportunity both to work with its current Formula 1 car and to continue its programme for young drivers.
Racing Bulls schedules 200km filming day at Imola
Racing Bulls’ regular drivers will take part in filming activities with the current car, completing up to 200 kilometres. The mileage will provide a useful opportunity to regain familiarity with the machinery ahead of the restart of the championship, while also offering track time at Imola amid the possibility of the circuit returning to the Formula 1 calendar.
Alongside the filming programme, Racing Bulls will run a TPC session for Nikola Tsolov. Testing of Previous Cars allows teams to give drivers mileage in Formula 1 machinery from an earlier season, and the Bulgarian will use the opportunity to gain further experience in a significantly more powerful and complex car than those used in the junior categories.
Nikola Tsolov continues Red Bull development programme
Born in 2006, Nikola Tsolov is one of the young drivers supported by the Red Bull Junior Team. After making a strong impression in karting, he dominated the Spanish Formula 4 championship in 2022 during his first season in single-seaters, winning the title.
His move into Formula 3 proved more demanding, but Nikola Tsolov gradually demonstrated significant progress, particularly through his one-lap speed and aggressive driving style. His career then took him towards Formula 2 and increasingly close to Formula 1 activities within the Red Bull organisation.
Nikola Tsolov to drive 2025 Racing Bulls VCARB02
The Imola TPC test will therefore represent another important step in Nikola Tsolov’s development programme. He will drive the VCARB02, Racing Bulls’ 2025 Formula 1 car, giving him the opportunity to experience machinery far more powerful and sophisticated than anything he has raced in the feeder categories.
For Racing Bulls, the session will also provide a chance to assess how Nikola Tsolov adapts to the car, how he approaches his work with the engineers and how effectively he can manage the demands of Formula 1 machinery.
Imola will therefore host a dual programme for Racing Bulls: filming mileage with its regular drivers and valuable Formula 1 experience for Nikola Tsolov as the Bulgarian continues his progression through the Red Bull driver development pathway.
