Racing Bulls moved ahead of Alpine into fifth place in the Formula 1 constructors’ standings after Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad both scored points at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. The Faenza-based team now hold a five-point advantage over their Enstone rivals following another impressive performance at the Hungaroring.
Liam Lawson climbed from outside the top 10 on the grid to finish eighth, while Arvid Lindblad secured the final point in 10th place. Their combined result allowed Racing Bulls to enter the summer break in what would represent the team’s highest-ever Formula 1 championship position.
Racing Bulls overtake Alpine for fifth in F1 standings
The first half of the 2026 season has established Racing Bulls as one of Formula 1’s biggest surprises. Before the Belgian Grand Prix interrupted the sequence, the team had completed four consecutive races with both cars in the points. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad restored that pattern in Hungary, strengthening the progress already evident when Arvid Lindblad reached Q3 at the Hungaroring.
The Hungarian result gave the team another unofficial benchmark. Racing Bulls emerged victorious from their direct battle with Alpine for sole possession of fifth place and can now enjoy the summer break with a five-point advantage in the Formula 1 constructors’ standings.
Liam Lawson praises Racing Bulls’ two-stop strategy
Liam Lawson started just outside the top 10 but recovered to finish eighth, bouncing back from the 12th place he recorded in Belgium. The New Zealander highlighted the importance of his opening lap and praised Racing Bulls for choosing the correct strategy.
“Today was a good race for us,” Liam Lawson said. “The first corner and the first lap were obviously very important for me, given that I had a difficult qualifying session. After a great start, we knew we had a long race ahead of us, but the car proved super competitive throughout.
“A huge thank you to the team for making the right decision with the two-stop strategy. Having both cars in the points is a great way to conclude the first half of the season. Going into the summer break fifth in the constructors’ championship is the result of all the hard work the team has put in so far this year.
“While I’m looking forward to recharging over the next few weeks, I’m excited to carry this momentum into Zandvoort.”

Arvid Lindblad extends top-10 run to six races
Arvid Lindblad, the only rookie on the 2026 grid, made another valuable contribution by securing 10th place. His point helped Racing Bulls establish their advantage over Alpine and maintain an encouraging run of top-10 finishes.
“It is a great result for the team to secure another double points finish today and reach fifth place in the constructors’ championship, so there is a lot to be happy about,” Arvid Lindblad said. “The team have done an incredible job developing the car, and it is fantastic to see all that hard work paying off.
“It was not an easy race for anyone in the midfield. It was demanding both mentally and physically, and we had a tough battle with the Audis. I was not able to make the most of the start in the way I would have liked, but these are exactly the lessons I will take with me into the second half of the season.
“Overall, it has been a really positive first half of the year and we go into the summer break with great momentum. I cannot wait to return refreshed and build on everything we have achieved so far.”
Racing Bulls target another strong result at Zandvoort
Racing Bulls will now attempt to consolidate fifth place when the season resumes with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on 23 August. The team’s recent consistency has given Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad a valuable platform from which to build during the second half of the campaign.
With Alpine only five points behind, the midfield contest remains close. However, Racing Bulls enter the break with growing confidence after turning the development of their car into regular points finishes. The next stage of that battle will begin at Zandvoort, with the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix schedule and session times setting out Formula 1’s return after the summer break.
