Racing Bulls have officially confirmed that Alan Permane will remain team principal and co-CEO until the end of the 2031 Formula 1 season. The British manager has signed a long-term contract extension with the Red Bull-owned team, securing his position at the Faenza-based outfit as it targets a historic fifth-place finish in the 2026 Constructors’ Championship.
The announcement comes with only a handful of races remaining in the 2026 Formula 1 season, during which Racing Bulls has demonstrated encouraging progress. A fifth-place finish in the Constructors’ standings would represent a significant achievement for the Italian-based team, and Red Bull has now reinforced its confidence in Permane’s leadership with a new five-year commitment.
Alan Permane signs Racing Bulls contract extension until 2031
Alan Permane joined Racing Bulls as Racing Director in 2024 following a lengthy spell with Alpine. He was promoted to team principal in the summer of 2025 after Laurent Mekies moved to Red Bull, taking charge of the team’s sporting operations during an important period of development.
His new agreement will see him continue as both team principal and co-CEO, providing stability for Racing Bulls as it seeks to build on the progress achieved over the past two seasons.
Speaking following the official announcement, Permane expressed his pride in continuing his work with the team and thanked Red Bull for its confidence in him.
“I am immensely proud to continue this journey with VCARB, and I would like to thank everyone at Red Bull for the trust and support they have shown me,” Permane said.
“What makes this team special is the spirit shared by everyone, both at the track and at our bases in Faenza and Milton Keynes. It is a privilege to lead such a talented and dedicated group of people every day.”
The British manager also emphasised the significance of Racing Bulls’ performance in the 2026 championship, with the team fighting for a potentially historic result.
“Fighting for fifth place in the championship is an achievement we should all be very proud of. It is the result of years of hard work by so many people, and we are not finished yet.”
“We have the right people, the right culture and a clear vision of the direction we need to take. I am excited to continue pushing forward together.”
Red Bull praises Alan Permane’s leadership and Racing Bulls’ F1 progress
Red Bull CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments Oliver Mintzlaff also welcomed the contract extension, highlighting the role Alan Permane has played in Racing Bulls’ development and the importance of maintaining continuity within the organisation.
“Alan is doing an extraordinary job. The progress the team has made is a direct reflection of his experience, commitment and competitive mentality,” Mintzlaff explained.
“Alan brings clarity, composure and a deep understanding of what it takes to be competitive in Formula 1, while creating an environment in which people can consistently perform to the best of their abilities.”
Mintzlaff pointed to the team’s recent results as evidence of the progress made by the entire organisation, stressing that Permane has been instrumental in its development.
“The results achieved by Racing Bulls over recent seasons demonstrate the strength of the team and the work carried out throughout the organisation. Alan has played a key role in this development, and we are very pleased that he will continue to lead the team as we aim to build on this momentum in the years ahead.”
Alan Permane and Peter Bayer to provide long-term stability at Racing Bulls
The Racing Bulls leadership structure will continue to feature Alan Permane alongside Peter Bayer, with Red Bull viewing their complementary abilities as an important part of the team’s long-term development.
Oliver Mintzlaff specifically highlighted the strength of their partnership, describing the two executives as an experienced leadership group capable of helping Racing Bulls pursue its future ambitions.
“Together with Peter Bayer, Alan forms a strong and experienced leadership team. They complement each other exceptionally well, bringing different strengths and perspectives to the organisation.”
“I am delighted that we can count on this stability and continuity, which provide a solid foundation for the team’s future development and its long-term ambitions.”
With Alan Permane now committed to Racing Bulls until the end of 2031, the team can approach the coming seasons with continuity at the top of its management structure. Its immediate focus remains the closing stages of the 2026 championship, where securing fifth place in the Constructors’ standings would represent another significant milestone in its Formula 1 development.
