Racing Bulls heads into the Singapore Grand Prix with renewed confidence after both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad finished in the points at Sepang. The result allowed the Faenza-based team to defend fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship and extend its advantage over Alpine to 22 points.
There is little time to recover before Formula 1 returns to action, with Singapore hosting the first of the final seven Grands Prix of the season. Marina Bay will also feature a Sprint, giving Racing Bulls additional opportunities to score points as it looks to maintain its momentum from Malaysia.
Liam Lawson returns to the scene of his first F1 points
Singapore carries particularly positive memories for Liam Lawson. The New Zealander produced an impressive performance at Marina Bay in 2023 when he was called up by the then-AlphaTauri team to replace the injured Daniel Ricciardo, scoring the first Formula 1 points of his career.
“The Singapore Grand Prix brings back great memories for me because this is where I scored my first points in F1,” Liam Lawson said. “That’s why I’m always excited to race at this circuit.
“It’s a physically demanding race because of the heat and humidity, but the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Malaysian Grand Prix have been important preparation.
“We approach this weekend encouraged by the positives that emerged from last Sunday’s race. Finishing seventh and scoring points with both cars was an excellent result for the team, especially after such a difficult and unpredictable weekend.
“We showed good pace, executed a successful strategy and had a very good feeling behind the wheel: those are all things we can use in Singapore.
“We also have another Sprint weekend here, which gives us more opportunities to score points, and that’s exactly what we’ll be focusing on. Hopefully we can maintain this positive momentum as we reach the end of this triple-header.”
The compact format will make preparation especially important, with the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix Sprint schedule leaving teams with limited practice before competitive running begins.
Arvid Lindblad prepares for first Formula 1 night race
The challenge will be entirely new for Arvid Lindblad. The British driver will race at Marina Bay for the first time and, more significantly, will make his Formula 1 night-race debut.
“We arrive in Singapore after a really positive weekend for the team in Malaysia and I can’t wait to race at the Marina Bay street circuit this weekend,” Arvid Lindblad said.
“It’s an iconic track on the F1 calendar, but we know it will be a challenge, especially because it’s a Sprint weekend on a street circuit.
“I remember watching this Grand Prix from home when I was younger and thinking how special qualifying looked here, so I’m looking forward to enjoying it, and getting to do it twice this weekend makes it even more exciting.
“It will be important to build the weekend from FP1, find a good setup for the car and develop the confidence behind the wheel that is so important on a circuit like this.
“The conditions will be challenging because of the heat and humidity, but I think we’re prepared for them after coming directly from Sepang.
“It’s been an intense few weeks, so the objective is to finish this triple-header in the best possible way before we head west.”
Racing Bulls looks to protect fifth in the Constructors’ Championship
The double-points finish in Malaysia strengthened Racing Bulls’ position in fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship, with Alpine now 22 points behind.
Liam Lawson’s previous experience at Marina Bay and the confidence generated by seventh place at Sepang provide reasons for optimism, while Arvid Lindblad faces a much steeper learning curve on a circuit where confidence and precision are essential.
With extra points available during the Sprint weekend, Racing Bulls will aim to build on its Malaysian result and close the current triple-header with another strong performance in Singapore as the 2026 Formula 1 season enters its final seven Grands Prix.
