Lando Norris is experiencing the most impressive season of his Formula 1 career, with consecutive victories and firm control of the World Championship standings. Yet the British talent has become the center of a controversial phenomenon: the boos from the crowd.
Peter Windsor warns F1 fans after boos toward Norris
The booing did not stop even at the São Paulo Grand Prix, where Lando Norris claimed his seventh win of the season.
Former team manager Peter Windsor issued a clear warning:
“The booing is absolutely terrible. In the end it will lead to something unpleasant. The more the crowd, the fans, and the TV audience are encouraged to do it, the worse it will get, and we need to intervene immediately.”
According to Peter Windsor, Liberty Media must take responsibility and act to stop this trend, possibly by involving drivers in a unified message against hostility from the grandstands.
“We need the so-called rivals to hug each other and say ‘we are all friends here’. Anyone who doesn’t respect Lando’s abilities should watch another sport.”
Lando Norris is now close to bringing McLaren back to the top of the world, an achievement the team has not reached since 2008 with Lewis Hamilton. But this increasingly hostile atmosphere risks undermining the true value of his journey. Formula 1, a sport built on passion and entertainment, must find a way to protect its leading figures and ensure that talent is celebrated — not booed.
